Educational Board Games

The first game I played was "Trigger". Players are given cards with random questions or statements (The person next to you is wearing jeans.) and each one takes turns asking other players a question according to colors on the cards. After the question is asked, everyone slams one of their hands down on the "Trigger" pad (right for true, left for false). The first person to slam their hand down wins the round and gets to ask the next question. If they answer incorrectly, the player loses a card and the second player to slam their hand down wins the card. The player with the most cards won the game.

The questions in the game aren't that challenging. The game requires a quick hand to be the winner, which was also needed in my groups game "Dynamite". "Trigger" did not require that many materials, just your hands and the cards. Overall, I did not find the game that exciting.

The second game I played was Ticket to Ride. The purpose of the game is to collect cards to get enough train pieces to claim routes to cities on the board. The board consisted of a map of the United States and Canada and routes that lead to major cities. If you claimed routes before other players you could prevent them from reaching their destination as quickly.

I had fun playing "Ticket to Ride", even though I only got to play it for a short time and did not get to finish the it. You had to come up with a strategy to reach your destination as quickly as possible and claim routes before the other players. There were cards involved too, so there was a certain strategy involved with that aspect of the game as well. "Ticket to Ride" didn't directly relate to any of the games we made in class. I would like to play the game again and see if my strategies would have made me the winner.
